SolarTex is a second-generation family business working out of 4333 Tuller Road in Dublin, Ohio, and a good share of what we do ends up in Cincinnati and West Chester. The crew loads the van and runs down I-71. There’s no storefront to walk into down there, so the way it works is we come to your building, look at the glass, and quote from what’s actually in front of us.

Most of the Cincinnati calls are commercial. Office buildings with a west wall of glass that cooks from two o’clock on. Schools and clinics that want security film after somebody on the board finally asked what happens when the front vestibule takes a hit. Storefronts wanting frosted graphics without paying etched-glass money. We do houses too, usually the ones with big windows and a view the owner doesn’t want to hide behind blinds.

Glare and hot spots are what get us called into an office. Solar control film takes care of both without changing how the building reads from the street, which matters when a landlord won’t let you break up the look of the facade.

We’re a LLumar dealer, so that’s what goes on most commercial jobs. On a building with a lot of sunlit glass you’re saving in the neighborhood of a ton of air conditioning for every hundred square feet, and it shows up on the bill the same summer you install it. Security and Safety Film

Glass is the soft spot in nearly every building we walk into. Safety film doesn’t make a window bulletproof and anyone telling you otherwise is selling. What it does is hold the pane together once it breaks, which turns a smash-and-grab into a loud failure and keeps storm damage in the frame instead of across the lobby floor.

Schools and medical offices around Cincinnati are most of this work now. If you’re speccing to a standard, say so before we quote. Frame attachment changes the price and it changes what the film will actually do for you.

The usual call is about a room nobody can sit in between two and six in the afternoon. Film on those windows brings the temperature down and slows the fading on the floors and the furniture. Hardwood bleaches, upholstery goes brittle, and it’s UV, heat and visible light doing it together, so a film sold to you on UV numbers alone is telling you about a third of the story.

We measure on site. Older houses on this side of the state have more odd glass than people expect, and an insulated unit with a failed seal needs sorting out before film goes on, not after.

Frosted, Patterned and Printed Film

Conference room walls, storefront windows, clinic sidelights. Frosted film gets you the look of etched glass for a fraction of the cost, and when the tenant changes we can pull it off and put up something else. Printed film is where logos and wayfinding go.

Cut patterns, gradients and full-coverage prints all come off the same rolls. Send artwork if you have it. If you don’t, we’ve worked from a phone photo of a wall and a rough idea more times than we’d like to admit.
